Venue: Mt Cook Observatory at Mt Cook Airport (5 km from the Hermitage)

Time: Friday 13 October and Saturday 14 October from 9.30 pm to late

Access: There will be free shuttle buses running from the Hermitage to the observatory site, or you can drive your car

Ticket price: $10 (no extra charge for those who participated in the Galileoscope workshop)

Hosts: Big Sky Stargazing at Mt Cook and the Canterbury Astronomical Society

These events will be dependent on clear weather on the evenings scheduled for stargazing.

There will be a number of portable telescopes provided by BigSky Stargazing and by members of the Canterbury Astronomical Society.

Telescope operators will show you some of the beautiful stars, planets and nebulae visible in the southern sky. The Starlight Festival was timed for moonless nights, so the sky should be very dark.

Hot drinks, pies and other eats and nibbles will be available at the observatory site which can be purchased for cash.

If you attended the Galileoscope workshop on the Saturday afternoon, then bring your assembled Galileoscope telescope with you. We will provide a tripod to provide a steady mount. (Your Galileoscope ticket includes entry to the stargazing session).
