Linux Support
Currently a mix of Scientific Linux, RedHat, Fedora, CentOS and Ubuntu distributions are supported in the department. For assistance please contact Orlon, or Tim at helpdesk@phys.canterbury.ac.nz who can provide some support for installation and applications.
Local mirrors of several distributions are available on campus, with an in-department mirror of Scientific Linux being maintained. For details of accessing this resource, please contact Orlon.
Windows Support
Local Admin password change
To change the administrator password in Windows:
- Right click on "My Computer"
- Click "Computer Management"
- Expand the "Local Users and Groups Node"
- Click the "Users" node
- Right click on "Administrator"
- Click "Set Password" and follow the remaining instructions in Windows.
