Before University
Each year, usually in April, we run the Aurora School in Astronomy. This is a week-long residential course for senior high school students.
Undergraduate Degrees
The University of Canterbury is the only New Zealand university that offers undergraduate degrees in astrophysics.
Students can study for the 3-year BSc degree, which can be awarded with Honours for those taking an advanced 4th year of study. Our courses are taught by active research scientists and there are strong links between our teaching and research programmes.
Postgraduate Degrees
We offer advanced courses of study towards the MSc and PhD degrees. Typically these are centred around an intensive research project supervised by our academic staff.
